bio

Jasmine Myra is a London-based saxophonist, composer and bandleader whose emotive, cinematic instrumental music has established her as one of the UK’s most distinctive contemporary voices. Originally emerging from the vibrant creative scene in Leeds, where she studied at Leeds Conservatoire, she developed a collaborative practice alongside many of the city’s leading young musicians. Her sound blends euphoric melody and atmospheric depth, drawing inspiration from the likes of Fabiano do Nascimento to Arooj Aftab.

Following the critical acclaim of her debut Horizons (2022) and breakthrough second album Rising (2024), Myra’s third album Where Light Settles marks a significant artistic evolution. Self-produced and released on Gondwana Records, the record presents a confident and deeply expressive statement, exploring themes of duality, growth and renewal through rich ensemble writing and her unmistakable alto saxophone.

“Rising’s ongoing reckoning of mental health and musical dreams heads out from that place of consolation into new emotional sanctuaries, and a dancehall of the mind. Optimism and ambition have both been scaled up. - Jazzwise

The sense of transcendence and relief, rather than the raw, rough messiness of working it all out, is what comes through in Myra’s music.” - Crack Magazine
